1216 Jackson St, Alexandria, LA 71301

A rare opportunity to own a piece of alexandria's history! Built circa 1910 and individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, the Mayer Hirsch House is a remarkable example of Neo-Georgian architecture. Its commanding facade features four grand columns, a curved second-floor balcony, and an inviting covered porch. Inside, approximately 2,906 square feet showcase exceptional craftsmanship: hardwood floors, longleaf pine wainscoting, original cypress pocket doors, five decorative fireplaces, leaded-glass accents, and beautifully detailed woodwork. The centerpiece is an extraordinary suspended staircase with four flights and two landings, recognized for its architectural significance at the state level. The house underwent an extensive, historically sensitive restoration. Previously operated as an antique shop, this landmark offers exciting possibilities for its next chapter. The City of Alexandria has confirmed in writing that the B-3 zoning with a multifamily overlay allows business and residential uses, including single-family residential use. Envision a magnificent private home, professional offices, boutique business, art gallery, or distinctive combination of living and working spaces, subject to applicable approvals. A paved rear parking area accommodates approximately 15 vehicles. Seller desires continued shared parking access for tenants of nearby rental properties, with terms to be negotiated with the buyer. The property currently has three half bathrooms, no full bathroom, and no conventional residential kitchen, offering an opportunity to customize the space for its intended use. Rich in history, architectural beauty, and possibilities, the Mayer Hirsch House presents an extraordinary opportunity to preserve and reimagine one of Alexandria's architectural treasures!
